I have a nasty chest cold right now. It comes at a bummer of a time as I am really excited for the Bikers Edge Crit in Ogden this Friday. I am taking it easy, slamming the Vitamin C and echinacea.
Training to race with so many responsibilities is a challenge. The only way I can really pull it off is with what I have dubbed "Stealth Training" It goes like this; any time spent training while your wife is asleep does not count against you. ie; 6 hr ride on Saturday, starting at 5:00 a.m., when my wife get's up at 8:00 a.m., it only counts as a 3 hr ride. Anytime spent training while you are supposed to be at work doesn't count either. So training for me is 5 am rides, commuting to work and the occasional evening ride.
My big event for the year will be LotoJa. I am blessed to have a free entry from last year, and we've got a condo booked in Jackson for a few nights. The kids are staying home so after the 10 hr slog on Saturday, it should be relaxing.
I was reading the bio's on the TofU teams and realized that most of the really fast guys in Utah are older than me.......so theirs hope for me yet.
Big Prop's to Nate Page for scoring the big V at Snowbird. I remember when he was just a pup!
You know you are getting old when you remember vividly doubling-up on races when you where a junior (junior and cat.3 or 1-2's) and being old enough to do the same as a Master. I might go get a triple chain ring and a helmet mirror.
